MDG 15 – Guideline for Mobile and Transportable Equipment for Use in Mines was compiled by the NSW Department of Primary Industry to assist Manufacturers, Purchasers, Owners, Operators, Site Contractors and the N.S.W. Department of Mineral Resources Mining Inspectorate when assessing safety aspects of mobile and transportable equipment used at Mines, Surface of Underground Coal Mines and Product Processing Plants (eg, Declared Coal Preparation Plants).
There is a requirement to ensure that all mobile plant intended for use on a NSW Mine Site is assessed to the relevant requirements of MDG15 Guideline for mobile and transportable equipment.
The MDG 15 Guideline exists to provide safe fit for purpose equipment by:
- Identifying areas of non-compliance against industry standards
- Identifying the risk of non-compliance
- Providing a method of managing the identified risks
